FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT

  • The Armor of God

Scripture references:

Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.     (1 Timothy 6:12)

Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth…     (Ephesians 6:13-14)

Why do we need to put on Truth?

  1. Truth is essential for SALVATION.

Then Pilate said to him, “So you are a king?” Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. For this purpose I was born and for this purpose I have come into the world—to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice.” Pilate said to him, “What is truth?”     (John 18:37-38)

  1. Truth is essential for SEPARATION.

So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples,  and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”     (John 8:31-32)

Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.     (John 17:17)

  1. Truth is essential for SOLIDARITY.

Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ,  from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.     (Ephesians 4:15-16)

Therefore, having put away falsehood, let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor, for we are members one of another.     (Ephesians 4:25)

How do we put on Truth?

  1. TRUST in Him who is TRUTH.

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.     (John 14:5)

  1. Put up a GUARD against UNGODLY

Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.     (Proverbs 4:23)

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.     (Philippians 4:8)

  1. Grab HOLD of the WHOLE counsel of God.

for I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole counsel of God.     (Acts 20:27)

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.     (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
