FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT

Be Battle Ready

Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.   (1 Timothy 6:12)

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.  Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.   (Ephesians 6:10-11)

  1. Our battle readiness begins with our RELATIONSHIP with Jesus.

Finally, be strong in the Lord…

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.   (Ephesians 2:8-9)

  1. Our battle effectiveness depends on our RELIANCE on Jesus.

…and in the strength of his might.

  • We must realize how weak we are in order to recognize how the strength of Jesus.

I can do all things through him who strengthens me.   (Philippians 4:13)

The name of the Lord is a strong tower;  the righteous man runs into it and is safe.   (Proverbs 18:10)

For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me.   (Colossians 1:29)

  1. Our battle stance depends on the RESOURCES of Jesus.

Put on the whole armor of God…

Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.  Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God,   (Ephesians 6:13-17)

But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires.   (Romans 13:13)

  • Jesus is the armor in our life. Jesus is our perfect protector.
